REST IN GOD’S LOVE!

Main Text: Isaiah 30:18; Romans 8:31-39; 1 Corinthians 13:8,13.                     Memory Text:“Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of God of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life” (Jude 1:21 KJV).             

                                                                                       

          Have you ever heard someone make a statement like this: “I need to take some rest…” probably you’ve said that too. Usually people make such remarks when they feel tired or exhausted to imply that they would feel better after taking some ‘rest’. Rest makes you refreshed, renewed and strengthened, that explains why your mind and body feels stronger at the beginning of the day than later, because you started out from rest. When you wait upon the Lord, when you rest (stay) in His Word, He renews your strength (Isaiah 40:31). You were designed to operate from a standpoint of rest. God is at rest and everything He does is from that position. You too can carry out everything you do from the position of rest, and thus your efficiency is guaranteed.    

          Remember God created everything first, then He created Adam, so Adam’s first day was the beginning of God’s holiday (of rest). The works were finished before Adam showed up. Also, Jesus your Lord came and paid your debts, died for you and was raised again, fulfilling for you all that was required of you. Then He ascended into heaven and He’s resting at the right hand of God the Father. When you received Him as Lord (Master), you received all that He did for you and you were instantly ushered into His rest. Your first day was a day of rest and for the remainder of your life that rest is your portion.

          God’s Word Gods’ instruction to you. He says: “Keep yourself in My love, the love that I have for you and watch out for My mercy” (Jude1:21paraphrased). So, I know what to always expect, God’s mercy and goodness!

          You are responsible for keeping yourself in this environment of rest called “the love of God”. Just like the Garden of Eden was where God wanted Adam to live and function, so is “the love of God” where wants you to live and function. Understand this-God is love and you are in Him. Now, listen to what He says: “And therefore the Lord [earnestly] waits [expecting, looking, and longing] to be gracious to you; and therefore He lifts Himself up, that He may have mercy on you and show loving-kindness to you. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) are all those who [earnestly] wait for Him, who expect and look and long for Him [for His victory, His favor, His love, His peace, His joy…!” (Isaiah 30:18Ampl.) Do you know someone who is earnestly waiting for an opportunity to pour out kindness, goodness and love on you, that’s God!

          So, how do you keep yourself in God’s love? By getting to know how much He loves you, how rich is His kindness towards you. The more you believe the love God has towards you, the more of it you will experience in your life. Believing means accepting something as true, but you can only accept as true what you know, so get to know more of God’s heart of love towards you. John the Apostle said: “And we have known and believed the love that God has for us…” (1John 4:16). When you know the love of God, you’d believe it and when you believe it, you’d rest in it. So, believing is resting! And when you truly believe, you’d speak out what you believe.

           Maybe you are in the middle of something difficult right now, remember Isaiah 30:18, God is waiting for an opportunity to bless you, so invite Him, put a halt to the worry and begin to thank Him for your victories, worship for the solutions, praise Him for the supply of your desires.  May God’s peace fill your heart today.

 This is your season of rest, so REST!

PRAYER:  Dear Father in heaven, I thank you so much for your kindness, goodness, mercy and grace towards me. Thank you for bringing me into your love and making me the focus of your loving-kindness. I open up my heart to know, believe and rest in the love that you have for me. And I declare: my life is an unending testimony of God’s love; surely God’s life, prosperity, favor, goodness and mercy overflows in me all my days on earth in the Name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

                                           THE SPIRIT OF LOVE

Memory Text: “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love and of a sound mind”.  (2 Timothy 1:7)

          The Holy Spirit is also known as the Spirit of love. This kind of love is called “Agape”; the self-giving love. Agape is the character of God, reflected in His personality. This supernatural love is greater than any love an ordinary human being can express. God displayed this love towards us while we were sinners through the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ. (Rom. 5:6-8). When we were estranged from God, His love was poured out towards us, now we have come into God’s family and have greater access into this rich love (1 John 3:1).

          Apostle Paul in his writing to his son Timothy reminded him in the sixth verse of our text to stir up the gift of God which is in him through the laying on of his hand. This precious gift of God is the Person of the Holy Spirit. Then, he further described that the believer doesn’t have the spirit of fear, but we have received the Spirit of love (Agape), power and self control (sound mind).

          Also in 1 John 4:7-8, we can see here that God is love and everyone that is born of God is automatically born of love. So God’s nature of love has been implanted into our being. We are born of Agape. That’s why the Bible implores us to love one another, because: “… the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by The Holy Ghost which is given unto us” (Romans 5:5).

          In you is the inherent ability to love, hence the need to let that river of love flow from you to the world around you. You are full of divine love; it is the substance of your birth. The reason you could feel hatred towards someone else was because your mind ran out of control, now you know as well that the Spirit of God in you has filled you with self-control, love and power.

          1 John 4:18 says: “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear”. Anybody you are afraid of is somebody you do not love, but if you are born again, the perfect love is in your spirit, let it rule your mind and exterminate (cast out) that fear, because fear is the absence of love. Anybody you love is somebody you do not fear. That Spirit of love is upon you; express it in your words and actions. It’s useless having genuine love in you and hiding it, let it show. And remember that the greatest way you can express the Agape love is by giving the gospel, bringing others into the reality of God’s love. Let your love count and be a blessing to the world you are in.

Confession: Dear Father, I thank you for putting your Spirit of love, power and a sound mind within me. I refuse to fear for I am flooded with God’s love. I am a love-child of a love-God. Love is the hallmark and trademark of my life. Through the Spirit of love at work in me, I am effecting positive changes in my world and bringing glory to God in Jesus name. Amen.

             There is a way that God sees you, and the His image of you must become the image you have of yourself.That would be your right self-image.for example in 1 peter 2:9, He says you are "PECULIAR".That means special,one of a kind.you are in a class of your own and the best of you God's got. In Ephesians 1:17,the Bible calls our heavenly Father,the Father of glory.  Now,if He is the Father of glory,what is His child's name? Glory! you are "Glory" because you are his child. So God sees you as "Glory" and calls Himself the "Father of Glory".isn't that wonderful?
            The Bible says Jesus Christ is the effulgence(brilliance,radiance,outshining) of the Father's glory(Hebrews 1:3).Talking to the Father, Jesus said :"the glory which you have given to me i have  given to them:"(John 17:22). That's you. Thus, today, God has made you-the effulgence of His glory,for as Jesus is, so are you in this world (1 John 4:17).so you see,your name is glory.you were born to be the glory of God.
           I would to God you'd understand this and make it your daily confession! Every now and again,say, "Father I thank you, I am the glory of God, and I express who I am today."That's your calling, to express the glory of God . The Bible says "Christ in you the hope of glory"(Colossians 1:27); that means He's in you, to carry on His glory; to express it to your world. what a calling!
           2 Corinthians 3:18 tells us when we look into the mirror (word), we see the glory of God, and as we keep looking,we are metamorphosed; we are changed into the same image from glory to glory,even as by the spirit of the lord.what does this means? what does a mirror do? it reflects whatever is set before it. so, if you were standing in front of a mirror, you'd see your own reflection. so,here, the word of God says when you look at the mirror of God, which is the word of God, what you see is the glory of God. That's because when you look into the mirror,you're expected to see yourself.
            God is saying to you today," you're my glory;that reflection;that glory that you see when you look into the mirror-the word-is who you really are!"your name is "the glory of God"  so go ahead right now and call yourself by! say " I am the glory of God, and every step I take today is the step of glory.The glory of God will always be manifested in my life." Think and talk like this every day and your life will be that of ever increasing glory.                      


PRAYER: Dear heavenly Father,thank you for bringing me into the life of ever increasing glory. I declare that everywhere i go, your glory is revealed and manifested through me, for I am not just a carrier of your glory,but your glory personified. I walk in this consciousness today,in Jesus' Name.Amen.
